Ron Gummerson taught and coached at Conant High School for 29 years and was always inspiring students, athletes, and those who were lucky enough to have known him, to not settle for anything less than their best.
He was often known for his sayings, "What I accept, I am" and "Gold medals don't come in Cheerios boxes". He lost his battle with cancer May 12, 2011, but his legacy will never be forgotten.
To remember Ron and his love of track & field, his family and friends organize an annual summer track meet in his honor. The all ages meet will raise money for a scholarship to be awarded to two high school senior track athletes.
